STANFORD, Calif. - Top-ranked Stanford University (11-0, 4-0 Pac-10)won 14 of 16 swimming events to beat No. 8 California (9-2, 2-2) at theKoret Center in San Francisco Saturday in the final dual meet of theregular season. It was Stanford's 20th straight dual-meet victory,dating to 1997.
For Stanford, seniors Tate Blahnik (Temple, TX/Suffern HS) andDod Wales (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier), and sophomores Rob Canales (SanJose, CA/Bellarmine Prep), Jeremy Kane (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) andAdam Messner (Ann Arbor, MI/Dexter) won two events apiece to fuel thevictory.
Stanford returns to action at the Pac-10 Championships, March4-6 at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif. The Cardinal will attempt toextend its all-time Pac-10 record of 17 consecutive conference titles.
