Women's Hoops Defeats Cal

STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore post Carolyn Moos led all players with 17 points as the Stanford Cardinal dominated the Bears 80-67 in Pac-10 action Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

Freshman guard Lindsey Yamasaki and sophomore forward Sarah Dimson added 16 points each for the Cardinal while junior guard Christina Batastini added 10 points.

Adding to the Stanford statistics, junior guard Milena Flores dished out 10 assists, while freshman Bethany Donaphin added a career-high 14 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end.

The Cardinal led by 10 points with 8:20 left in the first half when Cal scored seven points in a 50 second span, but Stanford pulled away for a seven-point halftime advantage.

The Cardinal caught fire after intermission and went on a 10-0 run before Cal could score. That 17-point lead was Stanford's largest on the night.

The Cardinal improves to 6-8, 2-1 on the season while Cal falls to 6-6, 0-3 in the conference. The Bears have lost 22 straight Pac-10 road games and have not won in Maples Pavilion since the 1985-86 season.

Stanford will remain at home for conference games vs. USC at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 14 and No. 10 UCLA at 1 p.m. on Sun., Jan. 16.
