Women's Tennis Tops Pacific, 5-0

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's tennis team, seeded second in the NCAA Tournament, advances to the NCAA Round of 32 after defeating Pacific 5-0 this afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford will face Pac-10 rival Oregon in the second round Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. The Ducks advanced by defeating South Florida 5-1 earlier in the day.

The regional is part of a new postseason format the NCAA has implemented this year, requiring all 16 Championship participants to compete at the regional level.

The Cardinal clinched the match in singles competition, winning all of its matches in straight sets. Stanford's record improves to 24-2, while Pacific ends its season with a 16-9 mark.
