Corvallis, Ore. - The 20th-ranked Stanford women's soccer team scored two second half goals to remain undefeated in Pac-10 play with a 2-1 win over Oregon State today at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium. The Cardinal are now 9-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Oregon State falls to 7-5-1 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10.
Stanford fell behind midway through the first half when OSU's Katie Henderson scored on a penalty kick after obstruction was called on Stanford goalkeeper Carly Smolak (Lake Oswego, Ore.). Smolak also received a yellow card for the foul.
The Beaver lead held until the 58th minute when senior Kelly Adamson (Simi Valley, Calif.) scored on a loose ball in front of the goal. Adamson's sixth goal of the season tied the game and set up freshman Becky Myers' (St. Charles, Ill.) game-winning goal in the 67th minute.
After receiving a pass from junior Katherine Horney (Atlanta, Ga.) on the right side of the goal, Myers took a couple of dribbles before sending the ball far post to beat Beaver goalkeeper Elizabeth Pease to secure the win for the Cardinal
Adamson and Myers lead the team in goals scored with six apiece. Stanford has now won its last five games and extended its all-time record against Oregon State to 7-0.
