The men's golf team traveled to Illinois to compete in the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by the Northwestern Wildcats Oct. 4 and 5. The opening round was delayed due to rain, but after two rounds, Stanford leads the 15-team competition with a score of 576.
Junior Alex Aragon leads the Cardinal tied for second after turning in rounds of 70 (1 under par) and 71 for a total of 141. He is only three strokes behind the current leader, defending NCAA men's golf champion Luke Donald of Northwestern. Team captain Dusty Brett is tied for 12th with a score of 144, and the junior transfer from England, Philip Rowe is tied at 24th with a score of 147. Junior Eric Dahlberg is tied at 31st with a score of 148, and freshman Jimmy Lee is tied at 32nd after carding two rounds of 74.
The Windon Memorial Classic will be completed Tuesday, Oct. 5 with the third round of play.
Last week, Stanford opened it's season with a first place win at the Husky Invitational with a score of 1106. The Cardinal also boasted two players in the top five, Alex Aragon who placed first with a total of 214, and team captain Dusty Brett, who tied for fourth with a score of 220.
