Stanford, Calif. - Four Stanford women's tennis players will battle for the singles and doubles titles tomorrow at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional Finals to be held at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium at Stanford University.
In the singles main draw final, freshman Laura Granville will face sophomore Lauren Kalvaria. Granville, ranked No. 19 by the ITA and the two-time defending U.S. juniors champion, defeated No. 13 Kristina Kraszewski of Washington, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and No. 18 Amy Jensen of Cal, 6-1, 6-4, in the semifinals. As for Kalvaria, ranked No. 36 , she defeated Kim Niggemeyer of Fresno State, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, in the quarterfinals and No. 20 Anita Kurimay of Cal, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinals to advance.
In doubles, Granville and sophomore Keiko Tokuda defeated Kurimay and Jensen, 6-4, 7-5, in the semifinals and will now face teammates Kalvaria and sophomore Gabriela Lastra in the finals. Kalvaria and Lastra, ranked No. 14 by the ITA and the tournament's top seed, advanced to the championships match after Karoline Borgerson and Claire Curran of Cal defaulted.
Matches will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. with semifinal consolation matches, followed by the consolation singles final. The main draw singles match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the doubles final. The schedule of events may change depending upon weather conditions.
