#7 Stanford Women's Soccer Tallies Late Goal to Tie Washington

Nov. 5, 1999

Stanford, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Stanford women's soccer team scored a goal with 24-seconds remaining in regulation to tie Washington, 2-2, in a Pac-10 showdown at New Maloney Field.

Freshman Marcia Wallis (Los Gatos, Calif.) scored two goals for the Cardinal, raising her season total to a nine, which ties senior Ronnie Fair (Los Altos, Calif.) for the team lead. Wallis opened the scoring with a goal three-minutes into the game, before scoring the tieing goal with 24-seconds remaining.

Despite only tallying four shots on goal, Washington managed to put together a 30-second scoring burst that netted the Huskies two goals. Jana Wilson started the scoring at 24:44, followed by Theresa Wagner's goal at 24:15.

A win by the Cardinal on Sunday versus Washington State and a USC loss or tie with UCLA will give Stanford its first conference title since 1996. Stanford will take on Washington State at New Maloney Field beginning at noon.
