Women's Gymnastics Defeats Washington 195.05-194.75

Stanford senior Larissa Fontaine took the all around title Friday, Jan. 28 when women's gymnastics hosted Washington. Her performance led the Cardinal to a 195.05-194.75 victory over the Huskies.

The Cardinal were lead by Fontaine, who took event titles on the vault, the uneven bars, the floor and the all around. She turned in a 9.95 on the floor, a new career high, and a 9.9 on the vault and the uneven bars for an all around total of 39.525. Freshman Alissa Cooper has turned in solid performances on the bars at every meet, scoring a 9.8 tonight, good for a fourth place tie with teammate junior Jennifer Exaltacion. Exaltacion was the high placer for Stanford on the beam with a second place finish with a score of 9.85. Freshman Abby Gair also turned in a strong performance on the floor with a third place showing with a score of 9.8, a new career high.

Stanford's record improves to 4-1, 2-1 in the Pac-10. The Cardinal will travel to Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 6 to compete in a dual meet with the defending Pac-10 Champion UCLA.
