Corvallis, Oregon - The Stanford women's gymnastic team defeated Oregon State in the Cardinal's last conference meet of the season 195.1-194.8 on Friday, Feb. 25. In the narrow victory over the Beavers, Larissa Fontaine took top honors in the vault and the all-around, and sophomore Katy Herbert placed first on the balance beam.
Fontaine has recorded 22 individual event titles this season after taking the vault with a score of 9.95 and the all-around with a 39.525. Herbert has two event titles this season after winning the balance beam against the Beavers with a score of 9.9. Other top performers for the Cardinal include Jen Exaltacion, who placed second on the balance beam with a score of 9.875, and Sarah Harding who tied for second on the floor with a score of 9.875. Sophomore Kristin Jensen competed in the all-around for the first time in her collegiate career, and scored a total of 38.5.
Stanford ends the conference season with a Pac-10 record of 5-2 and an overall record of 8-2. Next week the team will travel to the East Coast to take on Penn State on Friday, March 3. The Pac-10 Championships will be held March 18 at Arizona State.
