Cardinal Men's Volleyball Falls in Four Games to Lewis

Muncie, Ind. -- The No. 13 Stanford men's volleyball team lost to No. 14 Lewis University 15-11, 15-9, 5-15, 15-11 in the first match of the Ball State Tournament in Muncie, Ind. today.

In the loss, Stanford freshman Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) recorded his first 30-kill match of his career. Toppel tallied 32 kills in Stanford's first four game match of the season. Entering the Lewis match, Stanford had opened the season with six consecutive three-game matches.

Freshman Paul Bocage (Princeton, NJ) had a season-high in kills (10), games (4), assists (2) and digs (5) for the Cardinal. Freshman Seth Ring (Bend, Ore.) and sophomore Marcus Skacel (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) also recorded double-digit kills for the Cardinal, with 12 and 14, respectively.

Stanford will take on host Ball State tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
