Women's Tennis Extends Win Streak Against Quakers

Stanford, Calif. -- The top-ranked Stanford women's tennis team extended its win streak to 34 matches with a 9-0 victory over the University of Pennsylvania today at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Cardinal is 16-0 this season and has not lost a dual match since February 27, 1999.

Freshman Laura Granville (Chicago, Ill.), ranked No. 4 in the country, defeated Anatasia Pozdniakova of Penn 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 to extend her singles win streak to 20 matches. During her streak, Granville has compiled a 15-0 dual record and won the singles title at the Rolex National Indoor Championships.

After winning all six singles matches, Stanford swept through doubles for the ninth time this season. Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, Fla.) and Gabriela Lastra (Reno, Nev.), ranked No. 42, recorded an 8-1 win over Carla Dorsey and Elana Gold of Penn at No. 2.

The Cardinal will travel to Loyola Marymount (March 23) and Pepperdine (March 24) for its next matches. Both matches begin at 1:30 p.m.
