Men's And Women's Crew Defeat UC Santa Barbara And Santa Clara

Stanford, CA - The Stanford men's and women's varsity crew teams swept UC Santa Barbara and Santa Clara on Sunday, March 26 at Redwood Shores. The Cardinal rowers had little trouble in their first home race of the season, as they raced to open-water victories in each varsity race contested.

In the women's varsity eight, Stanford defeated UC Santa Barbara 6:45 to 6:57. A few hours later, the Cardinal women led from start to finish on their way to a 6:49 to 7:38 victory over Santa Clara.

Stanford's men's varsity eight (5:56) rowed to a first-place finish over UC Santa Barbara (6:14) to remain undefeated in dual-races this spring. The Stanford junior varsity eight also finished ahead of UC Santa Barbara crossing the finish line with a time of 6:08.

In other competition, the Stanford men's novice eight defeated UC Santa Barbara 6:12 to 6:14, while the Stanford women's junior varsity eight beat UC Santa Barbara 7:03 to 7:28. Also, the women's novice eight from Stanford rebounded from an earlier loss to Santa Barbara to defeat Santa Clara.
