Coto de Caza, Calif. - Freshman golfer Ron Won led the Cardinal to a second place finish at the Anteater Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine. The freshman golfer from Irvine, Calif. finished the invitational tied for 12th place after carding rounds of 72, 73 and 76 for a five-over par total of 221. Stanford finished with a total of 892, six strokes behind first-place finisher Washington. UCLA took third with a total of 894.
Junior Alex Aragon finished tied for 17th with rounds of 81, 70 and 71 for a total of 222. Freshman Jim Seki placed in a tie for 29th place with rounds of 77, 73 and 76 with a total of 226. Freshman George Downing tied for 45th place with rounds of 77, 77 and 75 for a total of 229, and sophomore Philip Rowe placed in a tie for 80th place with rounds of 75, 80 and 80 for a total of 235 strokes.
The Stanford men's golf team will be back in action on March 3-4, when the Cardinal will travel to Bay-Area rival San Jose State to compete in the Western Intercollegiate.
