Stanford Men's Gymnastics Finishes Fifth In NCAA Qualifier

Iowa City, IA -- The Stanford men's gymnastics team finished fifth at the NCAA men's gymnastics championship qualifier held today at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena at the University of Iowa. The Cardinal, 5-7 this season in dual meets, scored a 226.125 in the six team-qualifying event.

California finished with the highest score (230.375) in the evening qualifying session, outdistancing second place Oklahoma (229.850) and third place Iowa (229.625).

Michigan won the afternoon session with a 231.925, followed by Ohio State (229.375) and Penn State (229.125).

The NCAA championship-qualifying meet included the top 12 teams in the country, broken into two sessions. The top three teams from the afternoon and evening sessions advanced to Friday's NCAA team championship finals.

The all-around competion will be held on Friday, along with the individual preliminaries. Saturday will be the last day of competition with the individual event finals.
