Cardinal women's athletics program honored as nation's best for second straight year.
Sept. 6, 2000
New York, NY - Sports Illustrated For Women has named the Stanford women's athletic program the nation's top college for women athletes for the second straight year, the magazine announced earlier this week. The magazine's editors considered a variety of factors to determine the top 10 schools, including National titles and Sears Directors' Cup points, varsity, club and intramural opportunities, graduation rates, financial aid and fan support. Also taken into account were sports-related curriculum, traditions and attitude. The report, comprised of a 16-page detachable package, was expanded this year to include additional information on finding an athletic scholarship.
Sports Illustrated For Women's September/October issue hits newsstands nationwide on September 7.
The Top 10 Division I schools for women's athletes are:
1. Stanford
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. North Carolina
5. UCLA
6. Georgia
7. Arizona
8. Penn State
9. Princeton
10. Maryland
