CORONA DEL MAR, Calif.,- - The USC Trojans water polo team exploded for six goals in the third quarter to defeat Stanford, 9-5, and win the Southern California Tournament on Sunday at Corona Del Mar High School.
Pedrag Damjanov led the fourth-ranked Trojans with three goals, including two in the third quarter.
Mark Amott led third-ranked Stanford with two goals.
The Cardinal reached the championship game with a 7-5 victory over second-ranked California in the semi-finals earlier in the day.
All-America goalkeeper Nick Ellis tallied 13 saves while Jeff Nesmith tallied three goals with Peter Hudnut chipping in with two.
