SAN JOSE, Calif. - Marcia Wallis (Los Gatos, CA) scored two goals and Marcie Ward (Alamo, CA) and Kelsey Carlson (Citrus Heights, CA) each had two assists as the No. 5 Stanford women's soccer team defeated San Jose State 3-0 to conclude the adidas Bay Area Soccer Classic Sunday afternoon at Spartan Stadium. Wallis gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead at the 26:25 mark with her eighth goal of the season. A Becky Myers (St. Charles, IL) throw in started the play before Ward crossed it from the right endline, and Wallis was there for the tap in.

Wallis' second goal (third of the tournament) came at the beginning of the second half. Ward took a pass from Carlson just across midfield and continued to the San Jose State box where she fed Wallis with a through ball. Wallis took one touch before putting it away to the lower right corner. Ward recorded her eighth assist of the season.

Freshman Brittany Oliveira (Los Angeles, CA) tallied her third goal of the year when she scored on a corner kick from Carlson. Carlson's ball went to the back left post, setting up Oliveira's volley.

Senior goalkeeper Carly Smolak (Lake Oswego, OR) recorded her fifth shutout (second shared) of the season, while picking up two saves. Freshman Nicole Barnhart (Gilberstville, PA) saw some time in the net in the second half to earn her second shared shutout.

The Cardinal is next in action Friday night at the Santa Clara adidas Classic against No. 20 Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
