The third-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the UNM-Comcast Invitational with a 3-0 victory over host, New Mexico. Game scores were 15-9, 15-4, 15-4.
The Cardinal improves to 3-0 on the year and have not dropped a game this season.
Stanford started slow in the first game but came back to dominate the final two games. The Cardinal hit .370 as a team in game two and .429 in game three. New Mexico was held to a .126 hitting percentage for the match.
Outside hitter Ashley Ivy (Arlington, Tx.) led the squad with 11 kills (.412 hitting percentage) and 10 digs. It marked her first double-double of the 2000 season. Outside hitter Sara Sandrik (Pelham, Ala.) chipped in 10 kills as well. Middle blocker Tara Conrad (Torrance, Calif.) and Ivy notched four total blocks each for the match.
Sandrik and Ivy were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts.
For the Lobos, Jessie Goffard posted a team-high eight kills while Amy Amundson chipped in seven for the match. Amundson also notched two block solos and a block assist.
The Cardinal travel to Utah for a match with the University of Utah this Tuesday in Salt Lake City before heading to Provo for the BYU/Mizuno Classic, held September 7-9. Stanford will face No. 15 BYU, Fairfield and Oral Roberts in the round-robin tournament before heading home to open Pac-10 play against USC.
