Sept. 8, 2000

Stanford, Calif. -- The 14th-ranked Eagles defeated the 19th-ranked Cardinal 3-2 in a tension-filled battle. With no time remaining on the clock at the end of the second half and Stanford leading 2-1, the referee signaled a penalty corner for Boston College. The Eagles converted the opportunity on a shot by junior forward Amelie Wulff to tie the score at two and send the game into a six-on-six sudden-death overtime period. With 7:16 left in overtime, senior Morgan Brady tallied the game-winning goal to give Boston College the 3-2 victory.

Stanford came close to winning today's match after sophomore forward Amanda Billmyer recorded two goals. Junior goalkeeper Rebecca Shapiro finished the contest with 10 saves. Boston College had 18 shots on goal, with only one of those shots coming during overtime.

The decisive penalty corner allowed Wulff to score for the second time on a corner. She scored the first goal of the day to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead with 7:29 remaining in the first half. Captains Brady and Jen Hall each recorded an assist for the two Wulff goals.
