LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 18 Stanford women's soccer team gave up four second-half goals and fell to No. 5 UCLA 5-0 Friday night in a Pacific-10 Conference match at Drake Field. The loss drops the Cardinal to 10-5-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the Pac-10 while the Bruins improve to 13-2-1 (4-1-1).

The Bruins got on the board in the 23rd minute when Venus James tallied a goal off an assist from Tracey Milburn. UCLA would take a 1-0 lead into halftime despite the shot count being even at 5-5.

The second half was all UCLA as the Bruins would score two goals in the first four minutes. James recorded her second goal of the night on a through ball up the middle. Three minutes later, Lindsay Greco found the back of the net for a 3-0 Bruin lead.

The Cardinal was held to just two shots in the second half and was outshot 12-7 in the game. Sophomore forward Marcia Wallis (Los Gatos, CA) led the team with three shots. The Bruin defense was able to keep freshman Marcie Ward (Alamo, CA), Stanford's leading scorer, without a shot.

Stanford senior goalkeeper Carly Smolak (Lake Oswego, OR) had five saves on the night. The five goals marked the largest margin of defeat for the Cardinal this season.

The Cardinal closes out its final Pac-10 road trip Sunday at No. 15 USC. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
