Irvine, Ca - UC Irvine's Jeff Powers scored three goals to lead the fifth-ranked Anteaters to a 10-6 victory over third-ranked Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Saturday at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.
Stanford led 4-3 at halftime, but were outscored, 7-2, in the second half.
Peter Osborn's goal with 3:19 left in the second quarter gave the Cardinal a 4-1 lead before the Anteaters reeled off five unanswered goals.
Brian Darrow scored an extra-man goal with 5:19 left in the game to pull Stanford within 6-5, but Dan Hayes scored consecutive goals to give UCI an 8-5 lead and UCI cruised from there.
Peter Hudnut scored two goals and Nick Ellis had four saves in goal for Stanford.
Stanford travels to Pepperdine on Sunday for a noon game.
