Stanford Field Hockey Closes Out Home Season With Victory

Stanford, Calif. -- Stanford (9-9, 4-2 NorPac) defeated Pacific in a non-conference match today on the Varsity Hockey Turf Field 5-2. Today marked the last home game for senior Michelle Scott.

Pacific opened the scoring with 25:51 remaining in the first half on a penalty stroke, but Stanford came back to tie the game less than two minutes later on a goal by Amrit Chima with an assist from Melissa Stai. Stanford's captain, Scott, then gave the Cardinal the lead with 17:35 to go in the first half on an unassisted goal. Erica Swesey rounded out the first half scoring on an unassisted goal with 6:17 left.

Stanford continued to produce in the second half on goals from Dani Guernsey (assist Noor Dawood) and Dawood (assist Amanda Billmyer). Pacific tacked on one goal with 11:58 remaining in the game. Stanford recorded 23 shots while Pacific took only five.

The Cardinal finish out the regular season tomorrow as they face cross-bay rival California in a 1 pm non-conference match on Sunday, Oct. 29 in Berkeley. The Golden Bears are the defending conference champions, but the Cardinal have won eight NorPac titles under head coach Sheryl Johnson.
