Field Hockey Edged In Final Regular Season Game, 2-1

Berkeley, Calif. -- Stanford (9-10, 4-2 NorPac) traveled to the East Bay for today's showdown with cross-bay rival California but fell to the Golden Bears, 2-1. Both teams will travel to St. Louis for the NorPac Championships on Nov. 1-4.

The Golden Bears opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game on a goal by Pooja Mehta. Stanford's Amrit Chima then scored her sixth goal of the season to tie the game with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half. Chima's goal was scored on an assist from Melissa Stai who leads the Cardinal with five assists on the year. Cal's Erin Robinson then scored the game winning goal with 15:51 left in the game.

The Cardinal will play in Game 2 on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 12:30 p.m. in St. Louis. California received a bye for the first game and will play its first game in Game 5 on Nov. 3 at 12:30 p.m.
