College Park, MD -- No. 1-ranked Maryland defeated Stanford (5-7 Overall, 3-2 NorPac) 8-1 this afternoon. Six Terrapins scored in the match, led by Caroline Walter and Dina Rizzo who each scored two goals in the game.

Amrit Chima scored Stanford's goal on a rebound with 16:39 remaining in the first half. Junior goalkeeper and NorPac Co-Defensive Player of the Month Rebecca Shapiro recorded eight saves on the day, bringing her season total to 78.

Stanford returns to the campus of Maryland on Sunday, October 8 to face American University. The Eagles play most of their home games on the Maryland campus because their Washington DC campus does not have a turf field.
