LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - Stanford's Peter Hudnut scored three goals and the Cardinal bolted out to an 8-0 lead en route to a 9-2 victory over Long Beach State in a consolation game of the MPSF Playoffs. The Cardinal will now face USC in the fifth-place match tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
Stanford (14-13) scored two goals in the first quarter, three in the second and three more in the third for an 8-0 lead before the 49ers (14-12) got on the board with just :24 seconds remaining in the third stanza.
Rob Canales added two goals for the Cardinal while goalkeepers Nick Ellis and Jaison Robinson combined for 13 saves.
