COLUMBUS, Ohio--Rain marred the first round of the TRW Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State Monday at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. Six of the 18 teams competing did not finish their rounds due to darkness.
Play was slowed by a two-and-a-half hour rain delay and soggy playing conditions. The six teams which did not finish Monday - Ohio State, Arizona, Southern California, TCU, Tulsa and Michigan State - will tee off at 8 a.m. Pacific time Tuesday to finish the first round.
New Mexico State's Rachel Bailey posted the low round of the day, firing a 3-under-par 68 - the lone round under par for the day. Bailey's round catapulted the Aggies into first place with a score of 289 (+5) - 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Stanford (300).
After the completion of the first round, the second round is scheduled to tee off at approximately 9:30 a.m., weather permitting. Rain is forecasted for the final two days of the tournament.
