No. 4 Women's Golf Takes Second At Wildcat Invitational

The fourth-ranked Stanford women's golf team shot a stellar four-under-par 284 today to vault into second place at the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Arizona. Host Arizona would take the team title with a three-day total of 875. The Cardinal finished eight strokes back at 883. Rounding out the top five are Duke (888), Southern California (892) and New Mexico State (899).

The 284 team score is a season-low for Stanford by six strokes.

Individually, senior Stephanie Keever shot a career-low seven-under-par 65 to catapult into a tie for third in the individual standings. Keever's 65 was only one stroke behind the collegiate course record for a single round (64). Fellow senior Hilary Homeyer tied for 12th, shooting rounds of 72-76-73--221. Freshman Angela Rho carded a one-under-par 71 on the afternoon and finished tied for 17th while frosh Marcia Wallis tied for 22nd with a 226. Kim Kouwabunpat turned in a three-day score of 235 to tie for 57th.

Stanford's Jessica Belskis, competing as an individual, also tied for 57th with a 235 and sophomore Kim Rowton tied for 69th with a 241 for the invitational.

Arizona's Lorena Ochoa took top honors individually with a three-under-par 213 defeating Duke's Candy Hannemann (213) in a playoff.

Stanford is back in action next month, March 5-7 at the Spartan Invitational in Monterey, Calif.
