STANFORD, CALIF. --Stanford (4-8 overall) captured a victory over #7 Minnesota State -Mankato tonight at the Ford Center, 24-9. After falling to Cal Poly earlier tonight, the Mavericks were unable to fend off the Cardinal. Minnesota State is led by Division II All-Americans Matt Petsinger and Matt Gadient.
Stanford dropped its first and last bouts, as Gadient and Petsinger secured wins. The Cardinal then swept the other eight bouts, giving Stanford the 24-9 victory. Justin Walker (Otis Orchards, WA/East Valley) recorded his 24th win of the season over Adam Kramer. In his first collegiate dual meet, Matt Twomey (Bloomfield Village, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) tallied a decision over junior Paul Okins.
Stanford's final dual meet will also close out its conference regular season and its home season on Sat., Feb. 10 against Cal Poly at 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion. Cal Poly defeated Minnesota State - Mankato tonight, 23-21.

Cal Poly defeated Minnesota State - Mankato tonight at Stanford 23-21. With the meet score at 17-15 in favor of the Mustangs, 12th-ranked Cedric Haymon pinned Scott Mertz at the 149-pound class to secure the win for Cal Poly. His pin gave the Mustangs an eight point lead with one bout to go. 2nd-ranked Matt Petsinger ended the meet for the Mavericks with the fourth pin of the evening against Josh Blagg at the 157 division, bringing Minnesota State - Mankato just short of Cal Poly at 23-21.
