Provo, Utah. -- The fourth-ranked Cardinal faced Brigham Young for the second time this season, and took away the second convincing victory tonight in Utah. Stanford concluded its home season last weekend against BYU, and tonight finished the regular season with the 196.775-194.300 win over the Cougars. Southern Utah also competed, finishing with a 194.000. Stanford improved to 7-1 on the season.
Freshman Caroline Fluhrer and senior Jen Exaltacion finished the night in a tie for first place in the All-Around (39.375). Fluhrer recorded a new career-best score on beam with a 9.850 as she took third place in the event. She also grabbed the top-spot on bars with a 9.950, tying her career-best mark. Exaltacion captured first place on beam with a 9.925 and tied for third on bars with a 9.900. Freshman Lindsay Wing rounded out the top All-Around finishers witha 39.275 - good for third place. Wing took third on vault (9.875) and second on beam (9.875). Freshman Shelley Goldberg took the title on floor with a 9.925 and freshman Robin Phelps rounded out the top Cardinal finishers in individual events, tying with Exaltacion for third on bars with a 9.900.
The Cardinal will take a break next weekend before traveling to Seattle, Wash. for the Pac-10 Championships on Sat., March 24. Stanford is 4-1 in the Pac-10 this year, its only loss coming from UCLA on Jan. 19. Head coach Mark Cook will try to guide the Cardinal to its second Pac-10 Championship in his four-year tenure. The Cardinal will also be looking ahead to the NCAA Regionals on Sat., April 7.
