LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 1 Stanford women's tennis team shutout No. 60 UNLV 7-0 in a non-conference match at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Wednesday. The Cardinal improves to 16-0 on the year while the Rebels fall to 4-8.
The Cardinal opened the day by sweeping three doubles matches for the one team point. Top-ranked Lauren Barnikow (Woodbridge, NJ)/Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, FL) won their match 8-3 as did the No. 3 doubles team of Sarah Pestieau (New York NY)/Keiko Tokuda (Clifton, NJ).
In singles play, No. 1-ranked Laura Granville (Chicago, IL) defeated Paulina Janus 6-4, 6-0. Kalvaria won her No. 2 singles match over Agnieszka Abram and Gabriela Lastra (Reno, NV) was also a winner. Barnikow (who lost just one game in her No. 4 match), Tokuda and Pestieau all won their matches in straight sets.
