George Mason Delivers First Loss For Women's Lacrosse

Denver, CO - Stanford got its first loss of the season today, falling to Patriots of George Mason University, 8-12. This was the Patriots first game of the season, they are currently ranked 18th nationally in the IWLCA. The first half saw back-to-back scoring runs, after the Patriots scored the first 3 goals then Stanford answered with 5 of their own. Each team would score 1 more goal, with the Cardinal leading at the half, 6-4. The second half was an offensive hailstorm for George Mason, who put in 6 unanswered goals in 14 minutes. Stanford would score 2 more, but the damage had already been done.

Leading the Cardinal on offense were freshmen Abbi Hills and Noor Dawood, who each had 2 goals. Hills now has 9 season goals, tying her at first with senior Katharine Barnes, who had 1 goal against George Mason.

The Cardinal returns to The Farm this week for a three-game homestand, starting with a 4pm game on Wednesday. The game versus Davidson College, will be played on Maloney Field.
