Stanford's 11-1 victory over South Carolina in the first game of an NCAA Super Regional has moved the Cardinal to within one victory of reaching the College World Series for the third straight season.Jeremy Guthrie (12-4) won his 12th game of the season to move into a tie for ninth-place on Stanford's single-season win list and tossed Stanford's first post-season complete game of the year, as well as the first of his career.Guthrie retired 12 straight batters from the first to the fifth innings.Ryan Garko extended his career-high hitting streak to 21 games by going 3-for-5 with a homer and an RBI.Chris O'Riordan hit his team-leading 12th home run of the season, a solo shot in the third inning.Stanford posted a post-season high 17 hits, while Carlos Quentin (4-5, RBI) and Jonny Ash (3-4, 2 RBI) tied career-highs for hits.Stanford improved to 2-0 in its all-time series with South Carolina as the Cardinal beat the Gamecocks, 15-4, in the only other previous meeting in the first round of the College World Series on June 5, 1982.Stanford has won 12 of its last 14 games overall and four in a row.Stanford's updated post-season records are 92-47 (overall) and 5-1 (Super Regional).
