Stanford, Ca - The Collins Twins, Jarron and Jason, have played together in high school and during their careers at Stanford University.
That all changed on June 27, 2001, when Jason was drafted in the 1st round by the Houston Rockets and Jarron in the second round by the Utah Jazz in the 2001 NBA Draft. Jason was then traded to the New Jersey Nets.
Jason becomes the sixth player in school history to be drafted in the first round of the NBA draft.
Jason enjoyed an excellent season in 2001 averaging 14.5 points and a team-leading 7.8 rebounds per game. He shot a team-leading .613 from the floor and shot 60 percent or better in 17 games.
Jason ended his career as the school's #1 all-time shooter at .608.
Jarron averaged 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in his senior season.
Jarron and Jason were named Pac-10 Co-Players of the Week by scoring 38 points (13-for-21 from the floor, 11-for-13 from the free throw line), grabbing 18 rebounds, and blocking three shots in wins at Arizona State (1/4/01) and Arizona (1/6/01).
For history buffs, the first top draft choice from Stanford was Rich Kelley, taken by the then New Orleans Jazz in 1975.
The first Stanford player ever drafted was Jim Walsh, taken in the 12th round of the 1952 NBA Draft by the then Washington Bullets.
