Field Hockey Takes Unbeaten Iowa To Overtime Before Falling, 3-2

Muncie, Ind. - Stanford (3-5) extended unbeaten Iowa (6-0) to overtime before Tiffany Fodera scored with only 1:13 remaining in the first sudden victory overtime to lift the Hawkeyes to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Cardinal in a neutral site NCAA field hockey game on Sunday at the BSU Field Hockey Field. Fodera had a pair of goals for the Hawkeyes, her first two scores of the season, including a game-tying goal with an assist from Lauren Edwards with 4:40 remaining in regulation to tie the score at 2-2.

Stanford had trailed 1-0 at halftime before second half goals by sophomore Noor Dawood and junior Liz Ott. Sara Herman picked up an assist on Dawood's goal with 13:56 to go in the game. Ott gave the Cardinal a 2-1 lead by converting a penalty stroke with 9:33 remaining.

Iowa took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Sarah Dawson with 23:11 remaining in the first half.

Stanford will continue its season-long seven-game road trip when the Cardinal plays at Ball State on Tuesday, September 11 (3:00 p.m., CT).
