Top-Ranked/Unbeaten Water Polo Team Defeats Pacific, 15-4

Stanford, Ca - Tony Azevedo and Onno Koelman each scored three goals to lead top-ranked and unbeaten Stanford to a 15-4 victory over eleventh-ranked Pacific in a non-league water polo game on Wednesday night at the Avery Aquatic Center.

Stanford broke the game open with 12 goals in the second and third period, six of them by Azevedo and Koelman. That gave Stanford a 13-2 lead after three periods.

Nick Ellis collected 13 saves in goal as the Cardinal upped its season record to 13-0. Pacific fell to 5-9.

Stanford hosts second-ranked and two-time defending NCAA champion UCLA on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Avery Aquatic Center.
