Stanford, Ca - Jeff Nesmith and Pasi Dutton each scored two goals to lead the top-ranked and unbeaten Stanford water polo team to a 5-3 victory over third-ranked Pepperdine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center.
The game was tied three times before the Cardinal took the lead for good at 2:46 of the third period on Nesmith's second goal of the game. Peter Hudnut added an insurance goal at 1:56 of the third period.
Stanford now is 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the MPSF while Pepperdine falls to 12-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Cardinal hosts California in the regular season home finale on Nov. 17 (10:00 a.m.)
