No. 3 Women's Volleyball Clinch Share of Pac-10 Title

Tucson, Ariz. - The third-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team clinched a share of the Pac-10 title with a 3-2 win tonight over No. 4 Arizona at McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona before a crowd of 2,963. Game scores were 22-30, 18-30, 30-21, 30-14, 15-11.

The Cardinal improve to 25-2 on the year, 16-1 in the Pac-10 while the Wildcats drop to 19-3 overall, 14-3 in the Pac-10.

With the victory Stanford assures itself a piece of the Pac-10 title with one remaining match left in league play. A win over Arizona State on Saturday, November 24 would give the Cardinal the league title outright.

After dropping the first two games, Stanford rebounded to win the next three to garner the victory. With tonight's win, the Cardinal are now 4-0 in five game matches this season.

Stanford hit .355 for the match while the Wildcats hit .178. The Cardinal outblocked Arizona 14.5 to 4.5 on the evening.

Four Cardinal players ended the night in double figures in kills. The team was led by Logan Tom's 20 kills and 11 digs. Middle blocker Tara Conrad added 14 kills and four blocks. Freshman outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani had 13 kills and four blocks while sophomore Sara McGee tallied 11 kills and a match-high eight blocks on the night.

Arizona was led by Shannon Torregrosa's 20 kills and 12 digs. Jill Talbot and Lisa Rutledge added 12 and 13 kills respectively.

Stanford is next in action on Monday, November 19 against No. 8 Colorado State in Maples Pavilion at 7 p.m.
