Stanford Cardinal

Head Coach Mark Marquess
Opening Statement: It was a long day. Great pitching performance by [Tim] Cunningham, we didn't give him a lotof help or a lot of runs, we had some opportunities that didn't get him much, but he pitched a phenomenalgame. We were facing elimination and he couldn't have come up any bigger than he did.

Q: You've lost the last the two games to Texas, what do you need to do to beat them twice tomorrow?
A: When we get on, hit it and when they get on don't let them hit it. When you play a good team, as all theteams at this stage are, it's who gets the big pitch in the big spot or who gets the big hit in the big spot.Today, Texas did the job.

Tim Cunningham (Player)
Q: What was your frame of mind going in to the game today?
A: I really don't have a frame of mind when I go out there. I just compete, it's kind of an unconsciousfeeling. When I'm out there I just take it one pitch at a time.

Q: How key was the sixth inning for you?
A: They're all important, I just try and take it one pitch at a time. I try not to make any innings biggerthan any of the others.

Ryan Garko (Player)
Q: How important were the last three innings for getting into a groove, going into tomorrow?
A: It was really nice for a lot of guys to get some hits, but it's not that big of a deal - we can all swingthe bats. We've done it all year long. We can't get too caught up in one or two games, it goes by really fastand you've got to put each at bat behind you as soon as you step back into the dugout. We've got a lot ofconfidence in ourselves, we know we can swing the bats well.

Marist Red Foxes

Head Coach John Szefc
Opening Statement: We're disappointed that we're leaving here tonight with a loss, but on the whole I'm prettyhappy that our guys for the second straight year now have really shown that they're hard-nosed, talented guys. They really come out and play hard and give a pretty consistent effort. It's tough, I think the reason we maynot have played as well as we would have liked also has a lot to do with the fact that we played against anawfully good team. They probably are one of the best defensive pitching teams I've ever seen in the six yearsI've been at Marist. [Tim] Cunningham was just a buzzsaw against us. I'd like to think that we can walk outof here with our heads high, we knocked out a two-seed and played a nationally ranked team very hard and ourguys have nothing to be ashamed of.

Anthony Bocchino (Player)
Q: Can you describe your feelings right now?
A: The team's really appointed, we came down here as the four-seed and a small school, but we came down hereto win. I think we proved we had a shot to win here, but we didn't get it done so the team's kind ofdisappointed. But there's always next year.

Ryan Kondratowicz (Player)
Q: Did you hit a groove after the first inning, and what changed?
A: Yes, I think our team started to get energized and I felt good. I felt like my breaking ball was working,my changeup was working, my fastball was getting over for strikes early. They just hit the ball well.
