Stanford wins 4-3 to advance to the Super Regionals next weekend against South Carolina. Stanford is now 46-15. Texas ends their season at 36-26. Stanford has never before won a double header on the final day of a regional to advance in the NCAA Tournament. Stanford's Ryan Garko's 2-RBI sinngle in the eighth inning that scored the winning run also extends his team-leading hit streak to 20 games. Stanford's Mike Wodnicki is now 12-1 (.923) in his career, which ties for the all-time won-loss percentage mark. He is 5-1 in 2001. Texas' Ray Clark is 3-4 on the season. He allowed four runs on six hits, while striking out five. The Cardinal's J.D. Willcox recorded his first postseason save and his fifth of the season. It is the third straight regional title for the Cardinal, 11th overall.This marks the second season in a row that Stanford has won the second championship game in a regional. Stanford is now 91-47 overall in the postseason, 54-21 in regional play.
