This afternoon's 75-67 loss marks the first time the Huskies have lost to Stanford at home since a 70-63 loss to the Cardinal on Jan. 23, 1999.
After the score was tied 12-12 with 11:05 remaining in the first half, the Cardinal went on a 28-11 run to take a 40-23 lead, which they never relinquished.
Stanford's Lindsey Yamasaki scored eight of her 19 points in the game's final 2:48, after Washington had closed to 66-57 on a layin by Loree Payne at the 3:08 mark.
Washington's 11 turnovers equaled its second lowest of the season (vs. Michigan, 12-09-01). The Huskies lowest turnover total was 10, with a Nov. 27th win against Boise State. The Huskies low turnover rate led to an opponent season low four steals for Stanford.
In falling behind 40-23 in the first half, Washington made just seven of 29 field goal attempts (24.1%). In the second half, Washington made 16-of-43 (37.2%), helping outscore the Cardinal 44-35. The Huskies 31.9 field goal percentage was its second lowest of the season.
Stanford outrebounded Washington 27-12 in the first half and was outrebounded 29-22 by Washington in the second half. The Cardinal's 49 rebounds were the second most by an opponent this season, as were their 20 assists.
Andrea Lalum's nine free throws in 11 attempts were both career highs and Husky season highs. Lalum's previous career highs of eight and 10, respectively, were established Feb. 24, 2001, also against Stanford.
