USAF, Colo. - The Stanford University men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the Mountain West - Pac-10 Challenge today at the Air Force Academy. The women finished with 124 points to place third behind Colorado State (168) and Arizona (126), while the men placed fourth with 103 points.
Stanford captured four event titles and four second-places finishes on the women's side. Freshman Christine Moschella won the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.15. Lindsey Johnson ran a 8.62 to place first in the 60-meter hurdles and also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (25.49). Robyn Woolfolk earned second and third-place honors in the 60-meter hurdles (8.67) and 200-meter dash (25.45).
Kimberly Stone and Jillian Camarena led the Cardinal women in the field events. Stone captured first-place in the high jump with a 5-08.75 mark, while Camarena took the shot put with a 51-09.75 throw. Kathleen Donoghue (13-00.25) and Leila Ben-Youssef (12-03.50) placed second and third, respectively, in the pole vault. Sarah Hopping took second in the triple jump with a distance of 37-03.25.
The men's 103 points finished behind Colorado State (143), Air Force (135) and Arizona (128). Freshman Curtis Goehring and sophomore Adam Tenforde led the Cardinal in the running events, capturing first-place finishes. Goehring won the 400-meter dash in 48.99, while Tenforde took the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:38.26. Stanford placed second in both the 4x440 relay (3:17.65) and in the distance medley (9:52.13). David Vidal placed second for the Cardinal in the one-mile run, crossing the finish line in 4:19.62.
Stanford had a strong showing in the field events, with Milton Little winning the long jump (23-08.25) and Warrick McDowell taking the triple jump title (47-00.25). Nick Welihozkiy placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 67-09.00.
The Cardinal will be in action next weekend at the Armory Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 8-9 in New York.
