No. 3 Women's Basketball Takes Down Cal, 79-51

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - Nicole Powell had 16 points and nine rebounds as No. 3 Stanford rolled to its 14th straight victory and remained unbeaten in the Pac-10 with a 79-51 victory Saturday over California.

Reserve Sebnem Kimyacioglu had 14 points, making four of five 3-point attempts for the Cardinal (22-1, 12-0).

Kiki Williams led short-handed Cal (6-15, 1-11) with a career-high 18 points. The Golden Bears played without leading scorer and rebounder Ami Forney, who had the flu, and reserve center Olga Volkova, who twisted her ankle in the morning shootaround.

Bethany Donaphin added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford, which hasn't been defeated since a six-point loss to Tennessee on Dec. 16.

Stanford shot 47 percent while holding Cal to 30 percent and outrebounding the Golden Bears 50-36. The Cardinal made a 19-0 run in the second half to turn the game into a rout.

Stanford has beaten Cal in 17 of their last 18 meetings - including 16 wins by 10 points or more, and 13 by 20 points or more. The Bears, still struggling after a 4-0 start, have lost of eight of their last nine.

With 12 straight victories in conference play, the Cardinal have turned the Pac-10 race into a one-sided contest. Stanford leads the conference in 12 of the 19 major statistical categories.
