Indoor Track And Field Finishes Competition At MPSF Championships

Flagstaff, Ariz. - The Stanford men's and women's indoor track and field team finished competition on Saturday afternoon at the MPSF Championships in Flagstaff, Arizona. UCLA took the men's title and Arizona capture the women's. The Cardinal men placed fifth, while the women took sixth place.

Jillian Camarena won the women's shot put title with a season-best throw of 55-2 1/4 (16.82m). Lindsey Johnson took second place for Stanford in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.44. Teammate Robyn Woolfolk finished in 8.72 for eighth place.

Christine Moschella toured the track in a season-high time of 55.35 to place sixth in the 400-meter dash. Kimberly Stone placed eighth in the high jump with a mark of 5-7 (1.70m), while Shannon Overly recorded a 38-9 3/4 (11.83m) mark in the triple jump to place ninth.

Daniel Parris captured Stanford's other event title in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:13.52. Teammate James Nielsen took sixth in the event, crossing the finish line in 15:49.13.

Stanford placed second in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 3:10.97 and sixth in the distance medley (10:41.20).

Steve Loughlin captured third place in the one mile run, touring the track in 4:26.09. Justin Romaniuk (1:55.92) and Mark Hassell (1:56.84) placed fifth and seventh, respectively, for the Cardinal.

Ray Bergstrom finished with a mark of 6-9 1/2 (2.07m) to place sixth in the high jump. Warrick McDowell placed ninth in the triple jump and Omer Inan finished in 11th place in the shot put competition.

The Cardinal will have one more weekend to prepare for the NCAA Indoor Championships, to be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 8th and 9th.
