Ashley Wysong Wins 800 Meters at Pomona Pitzer Invitational

Pomona, Ca - Ashley Wysong finished first in the 800 meters to highlight Stanford's activities on Friday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

Wysong, a senior transfer from the University of Missouri, ran a 2:07.02 to qualify provisionally for the NCAA Championships. Wysong's time is seventh-best in school history.

Freshman Anita Siraki qualified for the Pac-10 Championships with a time of 4:34.86 in the 1,500 meters.

Jessica Pluth finished fifth in the hammer with a career-best 192-8 (58.72m). Pluth's effort qualified her provisionally for the NCAA's, and it was also second-best in school history, only three inches short of the school record.

In his first outdoor race of the 2002 season, Gabriel Jennings ran a 3:43.65 which is an NCAA provisional time.

Omer Inan finished fourth in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 190-1. At the Mt. SAC Relays in nearby Walnut, Grant Robison and Louis Luchini qualified for the NCAA's in the 5,000 meters. Robison was timed in 13:40.30, while Luchini ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 13:42.91. Robison's time was a career-best and fourth-best in school history. Luchini's time was also a career-best and fifth-best in school history. Seth Hejny qualified provisionally with a time of 13:50.77.
