Stanford has dropped the first two games of its current series at Oregon State (Friday, 3-1; Saturday, 4-3), marking its first losing streak this season as Stanford needs a victory in the series finale to avoid its first sweep this season ... National Player of the Year candidate Jason Cooper continues to lead the team with a .366 batting average, 10 homers and 39 RBI despite not homering or a driving in a run for the past seven games as his average his dropped from .400 ... Chris O'Riordan (.357, 232-649) has dropped back to fourth on Stanford's career batting average list, five percentage points behind all-time leader Jack Shepard (.362) ... O'Riordan had a career-high 12-game hit streak (23-55, .418) and a 38-game on base streak before going 0-for-7 without reaching base in the first two games of the current series ... O'Riordan is third among regulars with a .343 batting average and leads the team in bases on balls (23) ... Sam Fuld is second on the club with a .344 batting average, while pacing the club in hits (62) and doubles (12) ... Fuld had been the team's hottest hitter, going 17-for-34 (.500) with seven multiple-hit games in his last eight contests ... Brian Hall leads the team with nine stolen bases in nine chances ... STANFORD-OREGON STATE BASEBALL HISTORY AND CURRENT SERIES
Stanford and Oregon State conclude their current three-game series Sunday, April 28 (1 pm, PT). The Beavers have opened the series with a pair of victories, 3-1 on Friday and 4-3 on Saturday. Stanford has dropped into a fifth place tie in the Pac-10 standings with a 5-6 conference mark, 4.5 games behind league leader USC (28-16, 11-3 Pac-10). Oregon State has moved into sole possession of fourth place with a 6-5 conference mark. Stanford had won the last four games between the clubs prior to the current series. Last year, the Cardinal swept the Beavers in a three-game series at Sunken Diamond (4/12, 4-1; 4/13, 8-1; 4/14, 22-5 in 7 innings). Stanford leads the all-time series, 29-11.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY GAME REVIEWS
at Oregon State 3, Stanford 1 (April 26, 2002) - Ben Rowe tossed a complete game four-hitter as Oregon State shut down Stanford, 3-1. Jeremy Guthrie (6-1) had his 11-game win streak snapped despite tossing his first complete game of the season, scattering eight hits and three runs with five strikeouts. Ryan Garko's fourth inning solo homer gave the Cardinal a short-lived 1-0 lead. Garko (2-4, HR, RBI) had two of Stanford's season-low four hits. Biles (2-4, 2B) was the only Oregon State player with more than one hit. Chris O'Riordan had both his career-high hit (12) and on-base (38) streaks broken by going 0-for-4.

at Oregon State 4, Stanford 3 (April 27, 2002) - Oregon State knocked off Stanford for the second straight day with a 4-3 victory as Aaron Mathews scored the game-winning run on a wild play in the bottom of the eighth inning. J.R. Runyon struck out on a wild pitch that moved and he scored when Stanford catcher Ryan Garko tried to throw Brian Barden out at second base and the ball skipped by Cardinal second baseman Chris O'Riordan. Ty Kline (5-0) picked up the victory, while Dan Rich (1-1) suffered the loss.
