Men's Crew Competes at Windermere Cup

The 16th ranked Cardinal Men continued their rugged dual race schedule with races against the University of Washington. It was the third time this year that the Cardinal has faced the #1 ranked collegiate crew. In the Windermere Cup race, the Stanford Varsity took second to the Huskies.

The 16th annual Windermere Cup did not disappoint for spectacle as dozens of yachts lined the course. The 50,000 plus spectators included television and radio crews that covered the race for local media. The racing field was dotted with international crews that included rowers from Great Britain, China, Switzerland, and Austrailia. Races started down the course every two minutes, adding a frenetic pace to the event. Director of Rowing and Men's Head Coach Amerkhanian noted: "It was a tremendous experience for all Stanford rowers. A hearty thanks to the University of Washington and Windermere Realty for their organization and support. This regatta experience ranks among the best globally."

The Cardinal next race in two weeks at the Pac 10 Championships where they will face the #1 ranked Washington Huskies, the #2 California Golden Bears and the #8 Oregon State Beavers on Lake Natoma in Sacramento on May 19th.
