PAC-10 RACE BREAKDOWN
Stanford (15-8 Pac-10) heads into its final Pac-10 game of the regular season tied still with hopes of a share of the Pac-10 title. The Cardinal is tied for second place with Washington (15-8 Pac-10) and 1.0 game behind league leader USC (16-7 Pac-10). All three teams have won each of their first two games in their current series with Stanford winning a pair over Washington State, USC taking two at UCLA and Washington knocking off Arizona twice. USC has already clinched a share of the Pac-10 title and will win the outright leaugue championship and its automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament if it defeats UCLA today. Stanford needs a victory and a USC loss to earn a share of the title. The Cardinal will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament in the case of either a two-way with USC or a three-way tie involving Washington and USC. Tiebreakers for two teams are determined by head-to-head conference records between the teams. If more than two teams are tied, the first criteria is the combined conference head-to-head records against all tied teams. The next criteria is conference record against the next highest team in the standings and continuing in descending order.

STANFORD-WASHINGTON STATE BASEBALL SERIES HISTORY
Stanford has swept all 11 games between the teams since the Pac-10 expanded to included Washington State prior to the 1999 season and 13 in a row overall in the series. Last year, Stanford swept a three-game set in Pullman (14-6, 19-3, 12-1). Stanford leads the all-time series, 19-13. The last Washington State victory came in the Riverside Tournament in 1978.

Stanford kept pace in the Pac-10 race with a 10-0 victory over Washington State, remaining 1.0 games behind first place USC and tied for second with Washington, both winners on Friday night. Jeremy Guthrie improved his record to 10-1 and extended his consecutive scoreless inning streak to 19, scattering seven hits and striking out six in 7.0 scoreless frames to pick up the victory. Sam Fuld (3-4, 2B, 4 RBI) continued his hot hitting with his 19th multiple-hit game in the last 22 contests. Jason Cooper (3-5, RBI) also had three hits for the Cardinal, while Ryan Garko hit his team-leading 14th homer and drove in three runs.

Stanford (39-16, 15-8 Pac-10) kept its hopes of a share of the Pac-10 regular season title alive with an 11-3 win over Washington State (21-32, 6-17 Pac-10) at Sunken Diamond on Sunday. First place USC wrapped up a share of the Pac-10 title with a 16-10 victory at UCLA, while Washington remained in a second place tie with the Cardinal after an 8-3 victory over Arizona. Stanford scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie. Sam Fuld (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI) recorded his 20th multiple-hit game in the last 23 contests as he is hitting .515 (51-99) during the extended hot streak, while Dan Rich (2-2) picked up the win in relief.
