Louis Luchini, Adam Tenforde Claim All-America honors in 10,000 meters at NCAA's

Baton Rouge, La - For the fourth time in his young collegiate career, Louie Luchini is an All-American. For the first time in his young, collegiate career, Adam Tenforde is an All-American.

Luchini finished fifth while Tenforde placed seventh in the 10,000 meter finals to highlight Stanford's participation during day two action (Thursday) at the NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Track & Field Championships at LSU. For Luchini, a sophomore from Ellsworth, Me, it was his fourth All-America honor, and his first outdoor All-America honor. Tenforde, a sophomore from Richland, Wa, was competing in his first NCAA Outdoor championship. Luchini was timed in 29:29.70 while Tenforde ran a 29:31.47.

Laura Turner, a senior from Portsmouth, R.I., broke her school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:07.77. That time is third-best all-time in the Pac-10. Her previous school record was 10:13.47. Turner finished sixth in her heat and tenth overall to qualify for Saturday's final.

Donald Sage and Grant Robison finished third and eighth, respectively, in the 1,500 meter trials. Sage, a sophomore from Elmhurst, Ill., qualified for the 12-man final on Saturday with a third place finish in the first heat. Sage was timed in 3:41.66, sixth-best among the 20 trial competitors.

Robison, a sophomore from San Angelo, Texas, toured the distance in 3:45.11 on a relatively cool, but slightly muggy night at Bernie Moore Stadium. Robison finished first in his heat and eighth overall. Gabriel Jennings missed qualifying for the finals by .03 seconds by finishing sixth in his heat and 13th overall in a time of 3:45.22. Josh Spiker of Wisconsin grabbed the 12th and final spot in the finals with a time of 3:45.19.

After day two of the NCAA's, Stanford's men's team resides in a four-way tie for tenth place with six points. Georgia leads the competition with 15 points followed by LSU with ten. In women's competition, Stanford is 24th with five points. UCLA leads with 25 points.

Cardinal Chatter: Maurica Carlucci's time of 4:17.00 was a career-best and fifth all-time at Stanford.
