Women's Crew Advances to NCAA Semifinals

May 31, 2002

Indianapolis, IN - All three boats of the women's crew team advanced to the semi-finals on Saturday assuring them of a top 12 finish. The first varsity kicked off the morning with a strong showing as they moved into a qualifying position right off the start. They battled No. 4 Yale down the course and finished one foot short of them at the finish line. They advance directly to the semi-final and await the results in the repechage to know who they face tomorrow.

The second varsity came off the line in first and then the wind got the best of them. They fought hard and remained with the pack and finished 5th ahead of Syracuse. All boats but the winner of the heat advance to a repechage where they race for placement in the finals.

The varsity four had a solid start in second place and also had issues with the wind. They will head to the reps on Saturday for placement into the finals on Sunday.
