Jonathon Riley Runs Fifth Fastest Mile Time in School History

Stanford, Ca - Jonathon Riley, a senior from Brookline, Ma, ran the fifth fastest mile time in school history to highlight Stanford's participation at the Oracle U.S. Open on Saturday at Cobb Track & Angell Field.

Riley ran a collegiate outdoor best of 3:59.69 to finish third in the race. Riley's previous outdoor best was 4:01.29 in 2001. Kenya's William Chirchir won the event in a time of 3:55.40. Former Arkansas All-American Senecca Lassiter ran 3:58.59 to finish second.

Grant Robison placed sixth in the mile in a career-best time of 4:03.15. That time is also tenth-best in school history.

Jeff Atkinson remains the school record holder with a time of 3:55.16 set in 1986.

Kathleen Donoghue, who finished fourth at last week's NCAA Championships, finished third in the women's pole vault at 12-8 1/4 (3.87m).
